Objective / purpose of the function
Setup, manage and run the lab for Blaser India.
To provide value added services to customers through analysis of samples in regular monitoring and complaint handling.
Provide trainings to Sales & CS colleagues, Business Partners & Customers.
To contribute in better retention management and recovery management.
Tasks, responsibilities, competences
Overall responsibility of managing the lab.
Testing of samples (water, emulsions, fluids, concentrate, residues, oils etc) accurately with due diligence.
Handling customer complaints & samples.
Managing the sample analysis process (from sampling to the final report).
Follow lab protocol and SOP for testing samples.
Release lab reports with comments and recommendations.
Clean, Calibrate and maintain lab equipments.
Document test results and lab reports in LIMS Data base.
Report periodically about lab activities (including sample statistics)
Ensure global quality level for all lab activities.
Method development for local lab tests.
Support sales and CS based on the experience gained by lab testing
Run customer specific projects and write project reports
Provide support in the field – when needed including customer visits
Maintain Inventory and order laboratory supplies
Dispose waste in accordance with local regulations
Ensure local statutory compliances and maintain records.
Practical lab training for defined participants.
Indicators for the appraisal of achievements
Speed & Quality level of analytical tests – comparative sample testing in India and Switzerland
Efficient lab sample and complaint handling – within defined range until first response to customer/sales
Maintenance of lab equipment and installation
Inspiring practical lab training sessions in English – feedback from participants
– Previous chemical or analytical lab experience (8~10 years)
– Experience in running and managing chemical lab and instruments.
– Education in Chemistry along with practical lab sessions. MSc Chemistry, BE/B Tech in chemical engineering.
– Working in a LIMS (Laboratory information management system) environment would be an advantage.
– Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) in English.
– Must have: experience of concentration measurement, Titration methods, pH conductivity meter.
– Good to have:
a. Exposure to analytical measurements and instrumentation e.g. - Ion chromatography, X-ray, Infra-red, HPLC, HPTLC, GC-MS, LCMS.
b. Microbiological analysis and interpretation. TBC/Plater methods.
