Purpose of the Role
Effectively manage maintenance of all instruments used in production activities and operations across all Client plants; Oversee all improvement activities and enhancements; Ensure compliances to all statutory and regulatory norms; Collaborate with all key stakeholders in order to maximize efficiency and productivity of the instruments used in production at Client Site


Areas of Responsibility

1. Financial Focus:
Budgeting & Planning – Responsible for creating the annual engineering budget for the maintenance of all equipment’s including cost of spares and other requirements to keep all instruments in running condition and or as per norms/standards.
Cost Savings – Partner with other cross functions to drive cost savings initiatives across the organisation.
Cost of production – Responsible for ensuring that there is no impact on cost of production on account of equipment break-down / break-down of machinery. Responsible for ensuring that all instruments installed run as per set standards (efficiency) and norms from an engineering perspective.

2. Operational Focus:
Equipment Set-up & Monitoring – Responsible for ensuring that all instruments are in operating condition before the commencement of any production run. Oversee all procedures to inspect, operate, or test equipment to diagnose malfunctions. Monitor the efficiency of equipment’s critical to the production.
Responsible to ensure availability of spare parts for smooth running of the production and minimizing the down time.
Support Instrumentation teams across locations in diagnosing problems and determining how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogues, as necessary.

Maintenance of Equipment’s – Responsible for the planning of preventive and routine maintenance schedules for all instruments across client locations. He/She is expected to lead the maintenance through inspections, supporting the execution of maintenance schedules by partnering with various production functions to ensure that there is no impact on production schedules.
He/She will lead the troubleshooting for all breakdown of instruments ensuring conformance to calibration standards. Ensure that contingencies are created for breakdown of instruments.
Responsible to perform inspection for instrumentation equipments, electronic cards, and PLC & drives system, to identify the cause of errors, problems or defects.

New Installations & CAPA’s – Responsible to lead the erection, installation and commission of the instruments for the respective unit/location. Responsible for planning and getting approvals for CAPA’s to help improve the efficiency and reliability of the equipment’s in use at Client.

MIS & Reporting – Record and communicate detailed instrument calibration information and usage procedures to line managers, supervisors, peers or subordinates. Responsible to review reports generated and look for trends to highlight improvements / need for improvements.
He/She is expected to be able to present reports on improvements/ issues to the Head of Manufacturing / Production Head from time to time.

3. Customer / Vendor Focus
OEM’s Management – Responsible for interacting with OEMs and giving equipment ‘Fit For Purpose (FFP)’ for all installations across organization. Partner with various vendors to fabricate parts (if required) to help maintain and manage cost of spares.
Responsible for identifying vendors/ OEM’s for different instruments that would have a direct impact on the production (quality/capacity/efficiency/reliability).

4. Talent Focus:
Team Management - Demonstrate the ability to build and motivate team members. Handling & resolving grievances of the team. Responsible for KRA setting & reviewing of the Direct Reportees. Ensure that the code of conduct of the organization is followed by the team.
Training– Responsible for driving training and equipment use process across the production functions Oversee the creation of content, mode of deliver of training and scheduling of training.
Team Hiring - Coordinate the hiring of all department personnel and conduct performance appraisals and provide coaching and guidance to members of the department.
Team Development - Responsible to ensure the competence (skill matrix) for all team members and ensure that they are up to date and in tune with organization expectations
